It’s no secret that the academic job market is incredibly tight these days. Whether you’re actively pursuing tenure-track positions or have decided to prioritize non-academic careers, it is more important than ever to think broadly about the types of jobs that might bring intrinsic fulfillment to your life, and that map onto your values and goals.

This workshop explores how writing can lead us to a clearer understanding of our vocation, or life’s work. While many non-academic career workshops focus on strategies for getting jobs — whether adapting your CV or conducting informational interviews — this workshop centers on the important work of getting in tune with what we have to offer the world, and the practices that bring out our skills and passions. Through several targeted writing exercises, this workshop offers tools for exploring non-academic careers with a greater understanding of what you are looking for, and how to get the most out of your job search."
