"An advocate for transformative approaches to infrastructure investments, and a frequent commentator about the need for more investment in infrastructure to promote sustainable economic growth, Sadek Wahba is the founder, Chairman and Managing Partner of I Squared Capital, an independent multi-billion-dollar global infrastructure investment company. He has served on the expert committee for the World Economic Forum's first report on global infrastructure investment.

His firm, I Squared Capital, specializes in infrastructure investments, with over S25 billion of assets under management in the energy, utilities, transport, telecom, and social sectors in the US, Europe, and in select high-growth economies, including China, India, and Latin America. I Squared Capital’s companies employ over 12,000 professionals. With over 150 professionals under its own roof, I Squared Capital is based in Miami, with offices in New York, London, New Delhi, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Before founding I Squared Capital, Sadek was CEO of Morgan Stanley Infrastructure, a global infrastructure investment platform. He served at Morgan Stanley for 14 years. Previously, Sadek was an economist at the World Bank in Washington D.C., where he worked on the social dimensions of structural adjustment.

Sadek frequently writes about infrastructure issues. Among his recent articles advocating greater investment in infrastructure are “A Three-Step Action Plan to Save US Infrastructure” (Infrastructure Investor) and “Upgrading our Crumbling Infrastructure Could Recession-Proof Our Nation” (Miami Herald).

Sadek holds a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University, an M.Sc. in economics from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a B.A. in economics from the American University in Cairo. He is a published author on economic research, including articles in the Journal of the American Statistical Association, Review of Economics and Statistics, as well as other publications and proceedings. One of his publications was selected by MIT as one of their 50 most influential papers in the last 50 years.

Sadek was named Global Infrastructure Personality of the Year twice and Global Infrastructure Personality of the Decade, by Private Equity International (PEI).

Sadek is a member of Brookings Foreign Policy Council and a Senior Member of St. Antony’s College, Oxford University, and a trustee of the American University in Cairo. A first-generation American, he is married with two children and lives in Miami, Florida."
